Types of Dental Prostheses — Complete and Partial

A dental prosthesis consists of artificial teeth placed to replace missing teeth. Prostheses restore both aesthetic appearance and chewing function. Depending on the number and condition of the missing teeth, various types of prostheses are available.

A complete denture is intended for patients who have lost all of their teeth. It is fabricated separately for the upper and lower jaw. Modern complete dentures look very natural and are comfortable to wear. Implant-supported complete dentures, in turn, provide more stable retention.

A partial denture is for patients who have lost several teeth but still retain some natural teeth. It can be made with a metal framework or from a flexible material. It is secured to the existing teeth with clasps.

Fixed prostheses (bridges) are attached to the teeth on both sides of the extracted tooth and are not removable. In the GateDent laboratory module, prosthesis orders are tracked — the impression-taking, try-in, and final delivery stages are recorded separately. This makes the process transparent for both the dentist and the patient.
